The Stanbrook and Nicholson Story

By The Joiner’s Wife

If you look at the definition of ‘Journey’ it means ‘an act of travelling from one place to another’. For Stanbrook & Nicholson their journey began in a small workshop in the Surrey Hills with a room full of equipment that they bought from a small loan given to them from a member of their family.

Their dreams and aspirations for producing timber windows and doors on a regional scale were nothing more than ideas scribbled on a piece of paper. As many of us may have experienced in life that a job is sometimes just a way of paying the bills, but for these guys it is a lifestyle choice. They spend every working minute pushing to be better at their skill and their craft.

Even when the country was clouded with the darkness of the recession,  Stanbrook & Nicholson continued to push through its gloom to ensure that all their staff remained employed.

These guys may sound like superheroes, but the reality is that they are just two lads from Surrey who for the last six years have built a two man joinery company into a successful timber window and door manufacturer with more than ten staff.

I know this may sound like a self indulgent article, but to applaud the success of self employment in this current economic crisis should be welcomed by all.

So for many people a journey maybe getting from one place to another, but for Stanbrook and Nicholson, it is an adventure!
